Nestled in the Acadia neighbourhood of Calgary is a pub that takes friendliness to a new level. Governor’s Pub caters to this southeast community and provides a laid back atmosphere where everyone is a friend, whether it’s your first visit or your 400th. “Everyone who comes in is part of a big family,” says operations manager, Nate. “I love it here. Everybody knows your name. Everyone remembers what you’re drinking. Even if you come in by yourself, by the end of the night you’re socializing with everyone here.”
Governor’s Pub first opened in 1995 and was purchased by its current owner, Mackie, five years later. Its down-to-earth vibe has won over the local customers who were looking for a place to just sit and chat with friends. “It’s great to be able to walk in and hear your name being called and your drink waiting at your usual spot for you,” says Nate.
