When he was running a small gym and fitness classes out of his grandfather’s garage, Kyle Mahadeo, the founder and co-owner of Vagus Fitness, could never have imagined just how popular his philosophy on fitness and wellness would be with the people of Calgary.
After graduating with an honours degree in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, Kyle found employment setting up post surgical rehabilitation programs. He gained satisfaction in guiding injured people through the recovery process but also wanted to pursue his passion for sports, fitness, and wellness. Finally, he found a way to combine his two passions and skills sets. “I really wanted to empower people and I figured that fitness was the best way to do that, so I started a bootcamp company,” Kyle says.
Early on he noticed that his business really started growing. After moving out of his grandfather’s garage and into his own basement gym, Kyle knew it was time to take things to the next level. His business partner, Adam Brown, came on board, and since then they haven’t looked back. “We moved into our first commercial space in Montgomery,” Kyle says. “From there we grew our fitness classes, and then made the transition to our current location, a 4,000-square-foot studio in Royal Oak.”
