Rob Tompkins got his first taste of the professional diving life in the early 1970s, as a show diver for the Undersea Gardens in Victoria. Working as a commercial diver on a number of projects over the years, he eventually decided to become a diving instructor with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
Following his dream took him to Utila, Honduras, where he began to venture into the world of technical diving, and over the years he became a specialty instructor in a number of areas. In 2013, the opportunity arose for Rob to take ownership of The Edge Diving (TED) Centre in North Vancouver. For Rob and his wife, Shelley Palik (who shares her husband’s love of the ocean blue), it was an easy decision to take the plunge.
