How do you show your support for a great local business? One way is to buy there whenever possible. Another option, and a true testimony to loving a business, is buying it when the opportunity arises. And this is exactly what John and Melinda Newman did in 2007 when they purchased Seafair Gourmet Meats.
Former owners, Mike and Margaret Jordans founded the business in 1984. They were the Newman’s longtime neighbours and friends. John and Melinda were also dedicated customers of the butcher shop.
Melinda says, “John could always taste the difference without me having to tell him where the meat came from. The quality beats anything you will find at a grocery store.”
The secret? Manager Heath Newman (son of John and Melinda) and his team of butchers cut meat the old-fashioned European way. In fact, Seafair Gourmet Meats is one of the few butcher shops in the Lower Mainland to dry-age beef for enhanced tenderness and taste. This is jut one of the many details that makes the shop a true standout.
