Erica Chan’s love affair with photography began by capturing moments and beauty for a small photo card business she started for her Business and Entrepreneurship degree at the University of Victoria.
“Photography is my midlife passion. On the first day of class, I was the only one who had never been in a darkroom, so I had some catching up to do,” says Erica, who went on to hone her skills at photography school in California and by retouching photos for other photographers, before beginning to shoot weddings and portraits professionally in 2007.
Since then, Erica has been shooting weddings in stunning locations all over the world, including Hawaii where she lived for several years. Erica began with ten weddings in her first year working, and by 2014 Erica Chan Photography had already captured the beautiful story behind 200 happy brides and grooms’ special day.
Her growing portfolio displays a range of work that spans both the traditional and the uncommon. Her signature style has been a favourite amongst couples for many years: in 2014, Erica received Weddingwire’s Couples' Choice Award having previously earned their highly esteemed title of Bride's Choice in both 2011 and 2012.
