I’ve been eating here for 28 years. It’s the best Chinese food anywhere, the sauces don’t have that sugary thick texture. The food is real, great new dishes try the rainbow chop crystal fold, the chicken sue guy , the chicken with mixed veg and almonds and the Cantonese chow mein. This isn’t your average Chinese food, that’s why some people hate it, it’s real food with real sauces.
What a disappointment! We used to get food from there years ago, before it was sold to the new owners. We actually couldn't eat most of it. Worst Chinese food we have ever had.
Chinese foods in this restaurant is the best you ever find in Georgetown and surrounding areas. Those who have not tasted the foods in this restaurant, do not know what they have missed. Some of this restaurant specialty foods are Szechuan Beef, Lemon Chicken and Chicken Ball which are my favorite dishes. The thickness of the Beef is extra ordinary thick and juicy if you compare it with other Chinese restaurants. Lemon Chicken and Chicken Ball are homemade and taste really good and delicious. Also, the food portion is really big for one person. Waiters and waiteress in this restaurant are friendly. They always try their best to accomodate your custom make order. My friends and neighbours are never tired of eating in this restaurant. Try the foods for yourself and you will see what I mean!!!.
This is one of my favourite restaurants!! My family has been going there since it first opened about 30 years ago... The decor is still the same and could use an update, which is probably why it looks "dirty" to some people. However, the food is just as great as it was! In fact, the menu and chefs are the same ones from the beginning. The new owner seems to be very caring, he just does not speak English very well and for some reason people get angry with that. I think for what the owner was given, outdated decor and all, they keep the place clean and that smell (previous reviews) is probably just Chinese food lol. To clear up the "fish tank pebbles in food" and "owner re-using containers from garbage"... The Kitchen is far from the dining area, you can barely see in to it. The fish tank is in the front foyer, far from there. And the Garbage is no where to be seen. It doesn't make sense. My family has not had a bad experience there in 30 years, old or new owners... I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good, fresh food!
Discusting, Discusting,Discusting, Open up your eys you will soon come to the same conclusion. This place should be shut down, the owners are disgustingly dirty. poor handling of raw food.
the worst fried rice i ever ate in my life. can learn from other restaurants how to make it. full of soya sauce and no veg and tiny amount of chicken.
dirty, discusing odour, everyone should know the owner was removing used food containers from the garbage. when asked what he was doing he said, im going to clean them and re use the food container. the most discustiung thing i have ever seen ! the health inspector has got to get on these people continually giving them warnings to clean the resturant just doesn't do it for me.
The food is great and the service very good too, look past the outdated decor. Great big portions but all very well cooked and tasty, not that artificial & salty taste you get in some chinese restaurants. We took enough home for 2 lunches the next day. All in all a great local chinese.
The Peking Spare Ribs, half of bone and the rest was tough meat, this never happened when the original owner ran the place. The house rice was no where close to what we usually got and the Spring Rolls were so so, but they used to have something in them, not any more. We used to go there every couple of weeks, I phoned the owner the next day and told him what I thought and all he could say was good bye. It used to be 5 stars, now I would have difficulty giving it any
Food is always good and portion size is very generous, don't notice any changes in the last 10 years. They might want to change the menu once and a while, add something new. Of concern on the last two visits was the unpleasant odor in the lobby and around the cash area. Someone else mentioned the odor problem also. Don't feel like eating in there, decor needs updating.
Fantastic Chinese-American food. The atmosphere and restaurant are not recommended. Surprisingly delightful cuisine that is best experienced with their food at home. I would recommend take out to anyone.
Our family has been going to this restaurant for at least 15 years. We go for all of our special occassions and always look forward to the amazing food. We are always treated well and feel like family there. Although it is crowded, it is only because word travels fast when the food is this good. I highly reccommend it for the chinese food connisseur!
our family has been going to this restaurant every friday for the last 13 years and the service and quality has always been 100%.
So it was New Years Eve and they were packing them in. Our table was squiched right by the door which kept opening for the deluge of people for take out. It was a freezing night and windy and had to eat with our coats on. Did I mention the table was squiched in to accomodate more people. There wasn't adaquate room for our table and people kept bumping us all evening. I would certainly recommend it, but not New Years eve and if in winter, sit at the back
This place makes it hard to eat chinese anywhere else. to the highschool kids complained about slow service: This is a classy old school place where the entire table is served at once. "Don't eat till everyone is served" Hence the service being slightly slower for 10 people. I went there for lunches back in highschool too and they still treat me with the same outstanding service.
Having lived in Georgetown for 30 years 'The House of Budah' was hard to beat. It was definitely the BEST chinese food around and we used to order take-out once a month along with going for lunch every other week. BUT things have changed in the last year and I don't know why except that they have lost key staff. It used to be that there was rarely, if ever, a mistake with the food. Now I have given up going there for all of the mistakes they have made...from nuts in food when told specifically about allergies, wrong order entirely when the restaurant was very slow, to a pebble from the fish tank in my fried rice. We have given up and won't be back but it once was the best around.
It's great chinese food. We had our first date there 8 years ago, we are now married and we consider it the ONLY chinese food in town! We have our faves which we order when we either eat-in or take-out. Simple decor, but clean. Service is very friendly. We take family & friends when they are in town.
I meet people everywhere, in Toronto, mississauga, brampton who have been here, and continue to come back. I have enjoyed the coming here for 20years, never short of excellent.
Authentic tasting Chinese food. Best lemon chicken and won ton soup available. Lots of food that is freshly made. Atmosphere is clean, but basic. Food and service make up for ambiance!!!
That's why we have been coming a few times a year for the last 7 years. The food is fantastic and very reasonable. It's a great place for us girls to catch up on what's happening in our lives.
