Oshawa's Solitary Studios challenges the image of a stereotypical tattoo studio without moving away from the roots of a traditional tattoo shop. Co-owners Tom and Lori Moir have infused their tattoo parlour with a blend of old-school values and modern safety standards. As a result, their shop has been voted the best tattoo and body-piercing studio in the Durham Region.
“My husband, Tom, had assigned the name Solitary Studios to his artwork before we opened up the shop,” says Lori. “Tom had always been interested in tattoos, even before it became trendy and popular. He was a very talented artist, and I didn’t want his talent to go to waste, so when the opportunity came up in 2003, we decided to take a leap of faith and open up shop.”
I got my first tattoo and it was a wonderful experience. Corey did a beautiful memorial tattoo for my mother and everyone now wants to go to him. Thank you Corey!
My 13 year old wanted her nose peirced. They were great with her!! They didn’t tell her anything except the truth (especially about the pain), they were patient, and provided any aftercare she needed and answered all her questions. She’s very happy with it, and happy that her parents are cool ?
