On any given day, Little India locals both young and old can be spotted sipping lattes and freshly made soup at harvest tables created from reclaimed barn wood. A home-away-from-home, Lazy Daisy’s Café has become an unofficial meeting spot for new mums, small children playing together at a giant train table, self-employed urbanites tapping on laptops, plus a few couples on romantic coffee dates.

When owner Dawn Chapman opened her cozy eatery in the fall of 2011, she “wanted it to be a relaxed place where people could come with their families.” The café is inspired by summers spent at her grandparents’ Midhurst, Ontario farm where Daisy (“the best milker in the field”) and other cows were grass fed, vegetables were grown without fertilizers and Grandma baked fresh butter tarts in the kitchen.
