Jud Ruhl is the man behind The 3 Speed, a cottage-like rustic pub located on Bloor. The 3 Speed pub was one of the first to open up shop on the street and the name was coined for the image of a girl riding by on a 3-speed bike on a beautiful summer day. The Bloor area used to be known as a cyclist's area, so the name was a great fit.
“I’ve been working in bars and playing in them for my whole life,” says Jud. “I used to work at the Communist’s Daughter when it opened, so it felt right to open up one of my own places. Bars and pubs have always been a big part of my life.”
Over time, The 3 Speed has become a popular gathering spot for Bloor residents and visitors alike. Jud notes that many of the other business owners in the area are friends, so it has become a tight knit community of people with eclectic tastes in food and music.
