wow! have been coming to Kit Kat for many years and it is still one of my favorite places! The food, atmosphere and staff were amazing! highly recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends!!
The food was good but not exceptional. Service was excellent. A reservation was made for 5 people before the theatre. One of us was 7 months pregnant. We were squeezed into a booth which was meant for 4 adults or 6 skinny people. Very uncomfortable banging elbows while trying to enjoy our meals.
I went to Kit Kat's on a double date in November of 2011. Had been there for lunch a dozen times or so because it's close to my work, and while never overly impressed with the service, the food was decent. My last experience however is easily the worse I have ever had at a restaurant. It started with ordering a bottle of wine ('07 Niagara vintage) which our served advised was out of stock, but that the '08 was available. We thouht nothing of it and agreed to take the younger wine. The meal arrived late (we were going to a local theatre and had advised them as such -if you are considering Kit Kat for a pre-theatre dinner, beware as they completely overshot our timelines and we missed our show) but the worse part was the bill. The server failed to inform us that the younger vintage was actually $30 more expensive than the bottle we had previsouly ordered. We were of course not advised of this so it came as a bit of a surprise. To give you a little contest, the 4 of us at dinner are all well-employed, downtown professionals in our mid-30's so $30 isn't a deal breaker but the matter of principle definitely is. When we asked to see the manager, he came over and would not even allow us to explain our situation saying "I know what's happening here" and expected us to pay the extra $30. As you can imagine, this turned into quite the heated discussion and after being extremely rude, the manager ended-up offering to "split the difference". Either way, the damage was done. It put a real negative spin on our night and I will NEVER go back to this restaurant again. In this day of customer service, I don't know how a restauranteur can justify arguing with his customers over a discrepancy like this but, as they say, what goes around comes around.
This place is great! Very small, loud (in a good way), lively, cozy. The food was fantastic! Full of flavour. Our waitress was lovely...told us about 8 different specials without screwing up once. Best carrot cake ever! Wonderful wine list. I wish I could eat there all the time!
this place is VERY small; we thought we went in through the wrong entrance but you basically walk right into the dining area! this would be a perfect restaurant for date night or a little meal with girlfriends. the wait staff was extremely pleasant, and the food was close to authentic. wasnt impressed with my caesar salad (bland) however the main course (agnolotti with cheese and roasted red peppers) made up for it!
The front door reminds me of the old telephone booths, you literally have to come is walking sideways. The restaurant is very narrow. While waiting for my table there were drops of water hitting my head from some kind of leak from above. The service was good, friendly wait staff. The food was amazing, I had the grilled calamari (one of the best grilled calamari I have ever had), and then special that night bone in Veal Chop. Overall I had a great night with great food, just wished there was a little more room in the restaurant, that they replaced the front door, and fixed the leak.
The service is excellent and accommodating. I was in a pinch and had to head back to the Fashion Week tents within the hour, so I managed to get a table without having to wait the usual ten to fifteen minutes. Throughout dinner, the server would come by to check up on us to see if we needed more water, anything else, or to simply take away our plate.s Food, however, is all right. It is nothing particularly special, but it isn't awful. It's a little above average, but not exactly worth the price tag of about $30 per person (not incl. wine)
If you are looking for excellent service and a good Italian meal - this is the place! In the heart of the Theater District (across the street from the Princess of Wales Theater). Excellent wine list. Small inside, we were there in the summer, so sat on the terrace - watching the people! Great atmosphere inside too.
we had few appetizers to share with a nice italian pinot grigio and amarone with our maincourse ,again dessert to share ,busy small place you hardly move but was a great night a la italiana and definitly coming back.l shouldn t forget our server who helped us with food and wine suggestion.
From the outside you wouldn't think it was anything special but once you get inside you will be pleasantly surprised. The food and service was amazing and the atmosphere was even better.
Trust me you won't be disappointed with any aspect and i've eaten in a lot of restaurants.
