Land Acknowledgement

NSCC is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded territory and traditional homeland of the Mi’kmaq Nation. Our relationship is based on a series of peace and friendship treaties between the Mi’kmaq Nation and the Crown, dating back to 1725.

As Treaty beneficiaries, we recognize that we are all Treaty People.

NSCC to launch wind turbine technician program in 2026 As the local industry grows, NSCC is launching a one-year Wind Turbine Technician program at Strait Area Campus, set to begin in fall 2026. The program will be a first in Nova Scotia and was developed in consultation with industry leaders, reflecting the province’s push towards green energy.

Community-led clean energy projects get boost The Low Carbon Communities program, initiated by the Government of Nova Scotia, aims to support community-led projects that contribute to long-lasting greenhouse gas reductions. During 2024-25, program funding will support 27 clean energy and low-carbon projects including a feasibility study at Cumberland Campus that focuses on harnessing local geothermal resources.
