Fleming College Campus locations are covered by eighteen treaties and agreements that the Michi Saagig Anishnaabe participated in from 1781 to 1923.
Fleming College has settled on this land and recognizes that the region is now home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and the importance of respecting the voices and history of Indigenous communities. Fleming College launches Real Estate Learning Program, expanding career opportunities in Eastern Ontario
Peterborough, ON – (March 7, 2025) – Fleming College is thrilled to announce the launch of its Real Estate Learning Program, starting this summer.
As one of a select few institutions in Ontario approved to offer this program, Fleming College, located in Eastern Ontario, is providing prospective students with a fully online option to begin their career in real estate. With a curriculum developed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), the program equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to succeed in this regulated profession.
The curriculum features experiential learning and mandatory simulation sessions based on real-world transactions that better prepare learners for the demands of trading in real estate.
What sets Fleming College’s program apart is that, in addition to the full RECO curriculum, students will also learn about rural real estate, tailored to meet the needs of the local community. Through interactive and synchronous simulations, students will gain specialized knowledge in key topics such as septic systems, environmental and agricultural restrictions, seasonal cottages, and other unique considerations specific to rural properties. This emphasis ensures that graduates are well-prepared to meet the needs of buyers and sellers in smaller towns and rural areas—a key advantage for those planning to work in Peterborough and the surrounding regions.

Football Ontario Partners with Fleming College, the Fleming Phoenix, and the City of Peterborough
Hamilton, Ontario (March 31, 2025) - Football Ontario is excited to announce that, in partnership with Fleming College, the Fleming Phoenix, the City of Peterborough, and the Detroit Lions, the 2025 Intercollegiate Flag Provincial Championship, presented by the Detroit Lions, and the Adult Flag Circuit Championship, presented by the Detroit Lions will both be held at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario.
"Hosting the Intercollegiate Provincial 5v5 Non-Contact Flag Football Championship, and Adult Flag Football Circuit is an exciting opportunity for Peterborough to showcase our great sports facilities and reputation for postsecondary athletics," shared Peterborough City Councillors Lesley Parnell and Alex Bierk, Community Services co-chairs. "We’re happy to work in collaboration with Fleming College, and look forward to welcoming athletes, coaches, and fans to our community for an unforgettable weekend."
The Intercollegiate Flag Provincial Championship, presented by the Detroit Lions will take place April 5–6 at the Fleming Sports Complex, bringing together top collegiate teams from across Ontario to compete for the provincial championship. The top teams will earn a coveted spot at the Football Canada Collegiate Championship in May.
“The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is proud to support the Intercollegiate Provincial Flag Football Championship, highlighting the growth of Women’s Flag Football as an emerging sport. The OCAA is committed to fostering opportunities for female student-athletes and recognizes the potential that Women’s Flag Football offers.” says Kyle Pelly, Executive Director of the OCAA.
As part of the event, Football Ontario and the Detroit Lions will host a Networking Breakfast with women leaders in football and sport on Sunday morning at Fleming College. This exclusive breakfast event will allow student leaders from attending schools to connect with industry professionals and gain valuable insights into the world of football.
Football Ontario will also be hosting a Learn to Play Session on April 5th in partnership with Fleming College.
The Football Ontario 'Learn to Play' Session will be a free event put on by Football Ontario and Sir Sandford Fleming College to encourage high school and college students to get out and active and learn some of the fundamentals of flag football. The event will take place in the morning on Saturday, April 5th at the Fleming College Sports Complex from 9am until 10am ET.

32nd Annual Kawartha Woodlot Expo Returns to Fleming’s Frost Campus
Lindsay, ON – (March 31, 2025) – Fleming College is pleased to host the 32nd Annual Kawartha Woodlot Expo in partnership with the Ontario Woodlot Association on April 5.
Faculty, staff and alumni within Fleming's School of Environmental and Natural Resources Sciences have created engaging, hands-on workshops to help participants develop skills in woodlot ownership, forest management, and tree identification. The Kawartha Woodlot Expo helps property owners and students better understand the role of forests—big and small—on private land and their environmental impact.
Registration is open to all, with fees set at $40.00 per person.
Participants can attend two workshops (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and enjoy a silent auction, a chainsaw draw, raffle prizes, and roast beef lunch, coffee, and snacks. Topics range from chainsaw basics and lumber scaling to tree identification, forest bathing, and more.
Workshop spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for certain workshops. Participants are encouraged to bring their own, but equipment will be provided if needed.

32nd Annual Kawartha Woodlot Expo Returns to Fleming’s Frost Campus
Lindsay, ON – (March 31, 2025) – Fleming College is pleased to host the 32nd Annual Kawartha Woodlot Expo in partnership with the Ontario Woodlot Association on April 5.
Faculty, staff and alumni within Fleming's School of Environmental and Natural Resources Sciences have created engaging, hands-on workshops to help participants develop skills in woodlot ownership, forest management, and tree identification. The Kawartha Woodlot Expo helps property owners and students better understand the role of forests—big and small—on private land and their environmental impact.
Registration is open to all, with fees set at $40.00 per person.
Participants can attend two workshops (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and enjoy a silent auction, a chainsaw draw, raffle prizes, and roast beef lunch, coffee, and snacks. Topics range from chainsaw basics and lumber scaling to tree identification, forest bathing, and more.
Workshop spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for certain workshops. Participants are encouraged to bring their own, but equipment will be provided if needed.

Fleming College launches Real Estate Learning Program, expanding career opportunities in Eastern Ontario
Peterborough, ON – (March 7, 2025) – Fleming College is thrilled to announce the launch of its Real Estate Learning Program, starting this summer.
As one of a select few institutions in Ontario approved to offer this program, Fleming College, located in Eastern Ontario, is providing prospective students with a fully online option to begin their career in real estate. With a curriculum developed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), the program equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to succeed in this regulated profession.
The curriculum features experiential learning and mandatory simulation sessions based on real-world transactions that better prepare learners for the demands of trading in real estate.
What sets Fleming College’s program apart is that, in addition to the full RECO curriculum, students will also learn about rural real estate, tailored to meet the needs of the local community. Through interactive and synchronous simulations, students will gain specialized knowledge in key topics such as septic systems, environmental and agricultural restrictions, seasonal cottages, and other unique considerations specific to rural properties. This emphasis ensures that graduates are well-prepared to meet the needs of buyers and sellers in smaller towns and rural areas—a key advantage for those planning to work in Peterborough and the surrounding regions.
"Since 2014, RECO has been committed to elevating real estate education in Ontario through its research and industry consultations,” said Joseph Richer, Registrar at RECO. “This latest initiative aligns with our long-term vision and marks a significant step forward, offering learners greater choice while maintaining the rigorous education standards required for the real estate services sector to meet the needs of those they represent and engage with.”
This program aligns with Fleming College’s commitment to serving its communities, as outlined in the 2024-29 Strategic Plan. Real estate professionals play a vital role in fostering vibrant communities by facilitating homeownership, investment, and development.
