Great price terrible food.
Considering you get 30% off for any order over 25, that just seals the deal right off the bat, and I payed with debit. But I feel that the best part is definitely the food. Almost all the Chinese restaurants I've been to (trust me- I've been to many) have a very cheap taste to it, and you cannot tell the difference between any of them. No individualism. With Wok Around, you can taste the freshness. And I cant stand pushy waiters/waitresses. I admire KNOWLEDGEABLE ones though- and it seems like everyone there fits my criteria.
I tried to place an order for pick up on the phone I was put on hold immediately and abruptly. I then waited long enough that I was going to hang up. Then I asked if the chef cooked with MSG and was then put on hold again abruptly with out really being told that I was being put on hold there was just a beeping sound. Then I waited even longer on hold. When the person came back they said yes we cook with MSG. Then I was put on hold a 3rd time while I was trying to find out more information about what food has MSG. When the person came back I told him sorry I am not ordering with you and hung up. This was really really rude and that put me off this place entirely. I have no comment on the food other then MSG is really really bad for your body!
Is it just me, or have Chinese restaurants gotten really bad over the last 10 years? If I compare them to Thai restaurants they fall far behind on flavour and quality. I don't want to be unfair to Wok Around, I've had worse Chinese food, however, it still wasn't very good. It seems the competition now is only on price. I believe there is a big market opportunity for a chinese restaurant that delivers quality for a higher price. The servings were huge. So, it you like a lot of low quality food for a cheap price that is certainly edible, this is the place for you. I would personally like portions half as large with better quality. The Tai Dop Voy was mostly broccoli (there was one snow pea), very nicely cooked. The problem I had with it was it didn't come together as a dish, it was just a mixture of stuff. It was made by someone who had the recipe, but had never eaten good chinese food. My wife didn't like the chicken balls at all, in fact she only picked at her food. Overall, not a very satisfying dining experience.
