As passionate as Beverly Barrage, owner of Discount Hair Supplies, was about hair and hair care products, she struggled for many years to find the right items for her hair type. It was only when she went south of the border that she could get what she needed. “Back then, we didn’t have the same access to hair supplies in Canada as we do now,” she explains. “One time when we were in New York visiting family, I was excited to get some good, quality hair products and my husband was curious as to why.”

Beverly's excitement and her husband's curiosity turned into a business opportunity.  They changed direction by transforming their old trading card store into Discount Hair Supplies, a place where people could get the hair products they need, that are sometimes difficult to find elsewhere. “My husband saw the opportunity and how excited I was to get these products and said, ‘Hey, we should do this back home.’”
